Burrun Dalai Child & Family Disability Service

Burrun Dalai Child & Family Disability Service is a newly established service of Burrun Dalai Aboriginal Corporation.

 

The service aims to provide a holistic specialist support service to Aboriginal Children and Young people under 18 years old with a disability.

​

The child & family Disability Service has been designed to respond to the unmet need for Aboriginal children and young people with a disability living on the Mid North Coast, Taree and New England areas. 

​

 Priority of access will be given to: 

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children and Young People in Burrun Dalai’s programs 

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children and Young People 

  • Children and Young people 

  • Children and young people who reside in the geographical areas of the Mid North Coast and Hunter/New England

What is NDIS?

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the new way of providing support for people with a disability. It is a national scheme aimed to support people with a disability to achieve their goals, participate in their community and provide them with personalised flexible care and support.

Support and Information

Burrun Dalai have employed a NDIS Coordinator in response to the unmet need in the support of our children with a disability in OOHC.  The NDIS Coordinator will provide support and information to our children/young people with a disability, foster carers and families by coordinating services, providing ongoing communications and assisting with preplanning in a Culturally appropriate and inclusive manner.

  • Case Management and Coordination 

  • Speech pathology

  • Literacy Support

  • Trauma informed neurological psych assessment

  • Drug and alcohol counselling

  • Wellbeing Counselling

  • Genealogy Services

  • Assistance with social and community participation

  • Improved health and wellbeing

  • Improved relationships

  • Improved learning

  • Improved daily living

  • Transport
